No novelty print collection is complete without one of these glorious 1950s-60s ‘Sportaville’ label skirts, designed as collages of themed paraphenalia, this one featuring wine labels and grapes on the vine (others include vinyl records and their sleeves, and sheet music!). Fashion historian Liz Tregenza dated this skirt to 1958 from it’s feature in a British trade journal- find her article here. Pleated with side metal zip and button fastening, it’s nicely full and vibrant still.
Waist of garment 28”
Just under 24” long not including waistband, no hem
Presents excellently, letting down the hem left a faint line and there are a couple of v pale thin surface marks which are lost when worn. Had been altered when we got it, which we professionally finished, but unfortunately it has lost it’s label. A well documented design however and 100% Sportaville!
