I'm Ava, and I run The Vera Mode Collection; A treasure trove of individually sourced vintage pieces from around the world. As a Central St Martins graduate in Fine Art Sculpture, my background is in Art & Design, and I curate the collection to my own aesthetic; Bold prints and colours, abundant texture, and quintessentially era-defining styles. The latter makes VM a favourite with wardrobe departments and costume stylists working on international productions, as well as design houses and archives. Pieces from the collection have been featured in Masters of Sex, The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, Call the Midwife, Riverdale, Outlander, Bomb Girls, American Soul and the musicals Tina and Evita amongst others, and designers such as Stella McCartney and Richard Quinn have selected our garments as inspiration.
The VM journey began 5 minutes from my childhood home, in the old Camden Market catacombs, where at age 7 I would sniff out Mid Century ceramics and knick-knacks to save my pocket money for. Circa 2010, while training and working in millinery, I converted my two-floor Camden workshop into a restoration studio and showroom for a bursting vintage collection, offering “Vintage literally to the roof”. VM now operates purely online, serving discerning clientele worldwide, from my base in North London. Your best kept vintage secret!
