1950s Leopard print trapeze coat - Medium
Tax included.
Stunning late 1950s coat from the ‘Kilimanjaro’ design leopard print faux fur of Sidney Blumenthal, sold through the Grover Cronin store (I’m attaching a pic of the frontage from christmas 1947, wrapped in huge bows!). With trapeze-esque cut and bracelet length wide sleeve, which feature interior satin linings elasticated a short way up from the hem to keep arms protected from drafts. Fastening with 3 large buttons and another beneath the collar, which is able to be worn flat against the body of the coat, or more ‘funnel’ style with a furriers hook to the underside. Lined in black satin, with unimposing pockets. I am estimating size at a medium, although measurements indicate larger it is meant to be a swing style fit;
Chest of garment 44”
Hip 56”
Mid shoulder to hem 37.5”
Sleeve length from underarm 11.5”
Presents excellently, I suspect the sleeves have been let down a little as there is a slight crease in the pile as pictured, however not noticeable unless under scrutiny. Neck label is discoloured but the piece is clean! Tiny handstitchings above one pocket opening which is totally lost when worn, pictured
