A glorious 1940s coat in black boucle wool mixed with a slightly fluffy fibre- mohair? and trimmed with glossy Astrakhan/Persian Lamb wide collar. Princess style, with vertical seam details opening out at hip level to form inverted pleats for fulness. Button fastening at waist, with front pockets, and wonderful wide sleeve gathered to flat cuff for a bit of drama. Lined in crepe, with shoulder pads, original label is sadly missing
18” between shoulder seams
Chest of garment 44" max at present, shouldn't be too tight here though and bear in mind layering
Waist 36
Hip 47
Mid shoulder to hem 44”
Sleeve length 24” from shoulder
Presents superbly, I spotted a small weaker area at side waist, photographed, very difficult to find and not noticeable at all! A couple of small holes to lining, obviously not seen when worn. I don’t believe buttons are original, and look to have been moved around a bit from ghost stitch dots evident to the lining. Could be moved to increase or decrease an inch or so if needed. One or two areas of minor parting to the fur, worst pictured is at the point of most use and still not very noticeable!
