1930s Silk & lamé fringed evening dress - Small
A stunning 1930s evening dress, a close fit, constructed in inky black satin-backed crepe, with armholes bound in silk chiffon. The piece is detailed with rows of silk fringing, a joy to handle and glorious to wear, and fastens with popstuds and hook/eye to side opening (Original small popstuds remain but others of a slightly larger size have been added presumably for extra security). Neck and back lines are finished with hand applied braid of gold metal lamé, and flatback 'gems' in pink, red, and green.
Measurements are of the garment itself at max, fit should be 1-2 inches smaller;
Chest of garment 36", pulling out to 38" however shouldn't be tight here
Waist 30"
Hip 39" max
15" mid shoulder to waist
Skirt length to hem 34", skirt length to bottom of fringing 42"
Presents excellently. The piece has been shortened in the past, likely to mask that there has been damage which is now right on the edge of the hem as pictured- this is of course underneath the fringing when worn so not visible. A little gentle dulling of the lamé but still easily reads as 'antiqued' gold. Fringing is complete, but with a little gentle wear just as pictured
