A gorgeous Horrockses 1950s dress, I *think* this may be an Alastair Morton cotton print design, in bands of black stylised floral linework against white, and dark blue. With cap sleeve, and V neckline edged in white plisse, the bodice fastens with moulded white buttons. Full pleated skirt, unlined, with front opening inside a pleat. Belt loops have been added by hand at a later date.
Chest fit around a 33-4” I’d say, there is an inch or so either side of this measurement due to the curve of the sleeve and underarm gusset area
Waist 27”, to 27.5”
17” mid shoulder to waist
Skirt 27”
Presents very well with nothing noticeable when worn. A very well done reverse mend to small hole at waist as pictured, negligible on. We repaired/strengthened damage behind one buttonhole by machine darning, covered when worn. The sleeve edges had wear so we professionally turned them in a little more and reinstated the gussets, so the wear is now hidden on the inner side of the sleeve and invisible when worn. The odd v small catch to fabric, mild colour change at inner arm, freshly hand washed.
