A chic 1960s dress and coat suit from Malcolm Starr, a prominent American designer famed for simple cuts ornately decorated with beading or other high end applied finishes. A quality set, in oyster coloured silk, both articles lined in silk crepe, fastening with metal zip to the dress and knotted silk buttons and hand-bound buttonholes to the jacket.

The dress is an uncomplicated shift, so indicative of the time, with side strap details finished with knots mirroring the jacket buttons.

Chest of garment 36"

Mid shoulder to hem 34.5"

The jacket is slightly longer line, with small pointed collar, bracelet length sleeve, and half belt to back

Presents well, structurally sound, and has been dry cleaned. As pictured, there are some fabric conditions, however I will note that due to the sheen of the silk surface these are somewhat tempered by angle of lighting, and for the most part not glaringly obvious; The jacket has a handful of pale mottled spots mainly to button area and one elbow. The dress has discolouration at underarms but this isn't immediately noticeable when worn, and both articles have been professionally cleaned so are ready to wear. Jacket sleeve hem has a little scuffing to the surface, and similarly the odd small area of buttonholes.
