1940s Open midriff swimsuit - Extra small
Tax included.
A stunning rarity, early 1940s swimsuit (I’ve found similar examples advertised in 1942), in a woven linen-look rayon printed with brushstroke florals in jewel tones against stone. With ruched upper and lower bodice, and centrebust featuring drawstring gathering and bow, the midrif is totally open to give the appearance of a two piece! Back is entirely shirred with elastic, and straps tie as desired by passing through loops at the shoulderblade.
Chest 32”, shown on mannequin of 33 and probably doesn't want to be much above this
Waist approx 24
Hip up to about 36
Super condition, elastic still very stretchy, I found 2 tiny breaks to the upper back as pictured, doesn't affect wear at all. Looking inside at the soft cotton lining there is a little pastel transfer but nothing visible from outer. Clean and ready to wear!
