1970s Erté illustration print Jean Varon dress - Medium

A splendid piece from the collectible 'Jean Varon' label of designer John Bates, in a lightweight synthetic crepe, printed with rainbow-hued figures taken from a 1920s fashion illustration from the master, Erté. These figures are beautifully utilised to highlight the V neckline, echoed at the back which fastens with metal zip. Sleeves are full and gathered to a flat cuff, typical for the designer at this time, and billow beautifully when worn. Skirt is gored in panels for fulness, and the piece is unlined.
