A fabulous unusual 1940s coat in rich khaki green wool, lined with contrast apricot orange crepe. A classic cut of flattering nipped waist and gored panel skirt, with interesting scalloped curved front fastening with metal & mother of pearl buttons and hand-bound buttonholes. Wonderful pattern cutting follows the line of the pockets in with the seaming, with small pockets to breast also. No labels, but it has been made to a very high standard with work intensive methods.
Proportions suggest best fit a tall frame?
Chest of garment 38” which includes the curve of the underarm gusset, roughly 36” without this, probably best fit a 34 chest bearing in mind layering?
Waist 31”
Hip 46
Mid shoulder to approx waist 16”
Waist to hem 31.5”
17.5” sleeve length from underarm
Presents very well, all original buttons, no notable stains or marking. There are a handful of v small very well done darns dotted around as pictured, which appear as little surface dimples rather than stitching. Two or three small areas of mild surface pitting at hem, blemishes are generally lost when worn!
