1940s Purple printed pure silk formal day dress by Mode Salon Dame - Small
Tax included.
A fantastic 1940s smart day dress in pure silk, with kind of tweed esque print in purple, beige, black, and almost gold shade. Beautifully made using many couture techniques, skirt lined in silk, with very fine silk neck facing, and mother of pearl button fastening. The bodice is loosely fitted, with gathered diagonal yoke, and shoulder pads for that great 40s silhouette. Sleeves are gathered to a flat buttoned cuff, and skirt features subtle pleats from hip level. Original belt, with mother of pearl buckle
Chest of garment 36” although not meant to be fitted so best suit around a 34 chest
Waist of garment 28”, again should not be super tight here
Hip 38”
14.5” mid shoulder to waist, skirt 23.5” (maybe 1.5” of hem)
Presents excellently, with the only outer use evident being edge wear to the belt showing inner tape at the eyelet end (plus additional hole added here with stitches not quite as uniform as originals!), and replacement button to one cuff. Inside the silk neck facing has torn in places which obviously isn’t seen from outside!
