A stunning 1920s* evening dress in lovely lightweight black pure silk with typical unfitted cut, and back neck opening fastening with popstud. Now here’s the killer- the sleeves, collar, and skirt overlay are in a super fine silk tulle beautifully embroidered with honey yellow and sage green delicate florals, with ‘key’ cutaway edge. This is wonderfully utilised at the 3/4 length sleeves to create bare ‘boxes’ along the outer edge of the arm, how fantastic is that?!
*this appears to be an altered piece using Edwardian elements assembled in the ‘20s, much is hand stitched, notably the neckline with silk velvet ribbon, and neck/dropped waist seam is hand embroidered with chainstitch.

Chest of garment 38”, obviously a very lose fit so bear this in mind with sizing
Hip 40”
42.5” mid shoulder to hem (tulle over layer)

Presents very well, no fading and largely strong/ready to wear. Two darns to back and a patch of same fabric to the bottom of back neck opening. A couple of darns beneath tulle layer which are covered with this so not seen, and a patch of tulle to an area of the skirt. A little surface wear to velvet ribbon, pulls to lower embroidery in places. Darts at the back have been let out leaving ghost stitch dots, and two small areas of scrubbing to the fabric to the side. Linea mend in tulle to back. Pics look worse than when worn I promise!
