1980s Vanessa Grey clown applique mohair sweater - Medium to Extra Large
Tax included.
The mohair clown jumper to end all mohair clown jumpers! This is by 1980s knitwear designer Vanessa Grey but has lost it’s label- she seemed to almost exclusively knit pieces with clown appliqués. In vibrant tomato red mohair/wool/nylon mix, it features huge pointed roll neck edged with black stitching, and finished with multi coloured domed buttons. Sleeves are wide with low armholes, and the clown themselves is appliquéd in satins with 3d bowtie. They clutch flowers attached with 3d satin ribbon, and a colleague to the back hem of the sweater has had an accident upside-down (!). Both characters have 3d shoe laces.
48” chest but fine worn oversized
Around hem 32-44”
28” mid shoulder to hem
23.5” approx sleeve length although no defined sleeve seam
Very good condition, a dark mark to one sleeve as pictured and a few foxing spots to the front satin outfit, I think the clown may be meant to have a button nose but looks fine without
