A stunning 1940s Hawaiian dress akin to the Holoku in style, in the most glorious lightweight cotton which is a loose-is weave and slightly sheer. With background of flecked orange-red, the print is a spectacular almost photographic floral, of bold roses and rosebuds in delicate pastel pinks and peaches, with sage green and black leaves. From the mod 30s through the 1950s, the use of very bold Hawaiian prints became common, in response to the importance of tourism and the Hawaiian garment industry. Colour is most like close up images.

The cut is typically unfitted, with squared neck and armholes trimmed with a self ruffle, and nicely shaped train to the back. The piece has no openings so bear this in mind with the measurements, which are of the actual garment, fit is intended to be loose. Mannequin is an XS and garment is not pinned

Width between shoulder seams 14.5"

Chest 36" with no shaping here so actual chest measurement will have to be a few inches smaller

Waist unfitted 34"

Hip 40"

Mid shoulder to hem front 51"

We restored this beauty so she is in excellent structural condition, with no fade or damage. There is evidence of there piece having been taken in and let out at the sides, with little ghost stitch dots.
